How and why to do regular underarm detoxes
Oct 04, 2022
In 2018 I decided I wasnāt using any store bought antiperspirants. That was the easy part of the decision⦠the not so easy part was the fact that I was not prepared for the smell of my sweat! (Real talk always here⦠it wasnāt good š¦š¦)
I drank good quality water, I moved and I ate well and so I just couldnāt figure it out. Donāt get me wrong, I definitely got a bit less stinky over a couple of weeks but I was still self conscious š³
I found out back then that when we stop using anti-perspirants (more on WHY tomorrow), our underarms work extra hard to expel all the built up toxins that the aluminium in the deodorant trapped in them - the role of aluminium is essentially to plug your pores so you donāt smell. A natural process of moving to no deodorant or a natural deodorant is having to go through this stinky time š±
I started using bentonite clay mixed with apple cider vinegar and a splash of filtered water as a mask for 20 minutes every couple if days and this sped the process up. You could add a drop of organic lemon essential oil too šI do this every single month without fail and I smear the excess over any spots AND the area of my neck where all my lymph nodes were removed) - this is an intuitive move, my body asked for it.
Mix:
2 tbsp bentonite clay
1tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp filtered water
Apple to the armpit area and allow to dry. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water and a washcloth.
Benefits of doing this regularly:
šboosts lymphatic circulation
šreduce body odour
šremove built up toxins
šhormone supportive
We are supposed to sweat! And it shouldnāt stink!
